    Pancreas Surgeon

    Location: Columbia University

    The Division of GI/Endocrine Surgery, Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, is seeking applications for a Pancreas Surgeon with expertise in robotic surgery. Candidates must be board certified, certified in da Vinci Robotic System, and with the training to qualify for academic appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. Advanced fellowship in minimally invasive surgery within hepato-pancreatico-biliary or surgical oncology required. Academic rank and salary commensurate with experience and academic qualifications.

    Required qualifications include competence in minimal access procedures, as well as a strong interest in teaching medical students and residents.

    Responsibilities include participation in the academic and research missions of the University and the Department or Surgery.

    This position description is for a Physician Assistant: Robotics Program Coordinator, Memorial Operating Room.

    This position is responsible for coordinating the robotics services for the Memorial Operating Room, which includes: ENT, GYN and Urology specialties, under the supervision of the Surgical Services Medical Director. The Physician Assistant collaborates and maintains a working relationship with members of the surgical team. They coordinate the robotic surgery program across the continuum of care for all service lines, will perform troubleshooting, staff skill development and assist with pre-approved surgical procedures. They may act as first assistants during surgery as. The Robotic Surgery PA may write orders and initiate follow up on diagnostic testing after collaborating with the surgeons, the intensivist or referring physicians The Robotic Surgery PA will work closely with the surgery buyers and MDC for supply management related to building the robotics service.

    Minimum Requirements/Education/Licensure:

    • Must have a current Physician Assistant certification.
    • Bachelor’s Degree
    • Surgical experience in a robotic tertiary medical center is required
    • Must have outstanding communication skills and be a committed team member
    • Business development experience preferred
